VOLUNTEER

It takes a team of incredible volunteers to help keep our food bank running! If you are interested in joining our team, we would love to connect!

Available volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to:

Grocery Store Food Pick-Up: (weekly drivers and substitute drivers are needed).

Picking up donations from local grocery stores in Maple Valley and the Covington area.  This entails visiting the bakery, produce, deli, and meat department of each store and picking up the items each store has set aside for donation.  These items would be transported in your personal vehicle (you must carry your own personal car insurance) back to The Storehouse.  Items are then unloaded and weighed at The Storehouse.  Grocery pick-up is done Thursday & Friday mornings approximately 8-10am.

Sorting & Gleaning:

We receive donations from Costco and local grocery stores.  These items need to be sorted.  Produce items need to be gleaned.  Sorting and gleaning volunteers are needed Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings 9-11:30am

Cleaning:

Volunteers are needed to sweep the warehouse and wipe down food storage shelves and do general cleaning within the warehouse.  Monday and Thursday morning availability 9-11:30am

Client Distribution Assistance:

Volunteers are needed to assist with client distribution. This includes setting up before distribution begins, helping during distribution and cleaning up after distribution.  Volunteers are needed to assist with client check-in, parking lot management, food box assembly and taking carts to clients. Monday afternoons 3-6:30pm, Friday mornings 8:30-12:30pm, Saturday mornings 8-11:30am

In The Garden:

Volunteers are needed to harvest & glean the Real Life Church garden behind The Storehouse. No experience necessary.  We are looking for weekly volunteers or those that can help as needed. There is an orientation for this and training through Farmer Chris or Farmer John.

One of the best ways to support The Storehouse is through planning and hosting a food drive! Email us at info@covingtonstorehouse.org for a current list of high-need items. We'll work with you on marketing, goal setting, and help you in making your food drive a success. We'll then schedule a time for you to drop it by.

Please note, we are currently not accepting textiles or household items.

Please do not donate if food items are open, expired, frozen, or home-baked goods.

Some corporations offer to match donations, doubling your impact.

We are a registered 501.c.3 organization, and are already listed on the Boeing and Microsoft giving programs.

US Bank, and other local banks as well, have a 'Charitable Giving" program for their employees.
